Dance RSS FeedsSong of the Day: Ciara Corr - "Get My Way" - "Get My Way" feels like a preparation for a wedding - something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Ciara Corr is a new artist on the dance scene blending hip hop and house styles to create a catchy debut single (something new). Remixed by club legend John Morales, who did some of the earliest extended dance mixes by splicing tape with razor blade, the track fits the current commercial music you might hear on Sirius or US dance radio. You can discover John Morales classic M&M productions with Sergio Munzibai on a recently released BBE compilation. While not exactly sampled, there a several elements that seem borrowed from other current tracks - the whispered vocals, the hook in the chorus, yet they all seem fresh in this track. Blue could describe the lighting in the video or the slightly adult nature of the double entendres in the ...Feed Source: dancemusic.about.com Song of the Day: Roger Sanchez - "2Gether" -
Though I've yet to hear the full track yet, this little taste sets the stage for a massive club record. Using a sample of the B-52's party classics "Loveshack" and the line "Right Here Right Now," Roger Sanchez has constructed and electro flavored party anthem. Big drop out, check. Big build up, check. Packed dancefloor going crazy, check. If this is out in time, watch for "2Gether" to be a big WMC buzz record.

... Song of the Day: Salavador Santana - "Keyboard City" -
A joint venture between San Francisco native Salvador Santana, who learned to play the piano and drums by the time he was 10, and the Beastie Boys' keyboard man, Money Mark, "Keyboard City" is a blend of jazz, downtempo and lounge with Santana's vocals hidden behind autotune, that would make T-Pain proud. This song might just reveal not only a budding keyboardist but a visionary with a robust style and sound that will leave your head bobbing with the beat.

... Song of the Day: Celia - "My Story" -
Fans of Edward Maya's "Stereo Love" should check out this lovely europop track "My Story" by Celia. Produced by fellow Romanian Costi.Ro, the track has a similar tropical vibe, catchy accordion riff and well-effected angelic vocals. Imagine the Romanian version of Dannii Minogue and you've got an idea of why Celia might just be the next European pop tart du jour.

... Song of the Day: Dennis Ferrer "Hey Hey" -
The deep house producer behind the inescapable track "Church Lady" from a few years ago, Dennis Ferrer, is back with a bit more of a harder electro sound. "Hey Hey" is not new, as it has been floating around the underground and topped the Beatport charts a few months ago. The song which features female vocal and a crowd-friendly chant has been building a story and is set for a big commercial crossover. Will "Hey Hey" be the record heard at every pool party at WMC this year?

... Song of the Day: Estelle - "Freak" -
Remember when Christina Aguilera did the song "Dirrty" and the prevailing thought was, wow, where did this come from. Embracing her inner "Freak," the formerly demure Estelle puts everything out there with this uptempo electronic track. Produced by David Guetta, the track merges the Diplo/MIA/Switch glitchy sound with a touch of the Baltimore house sound. "Freaky" is edgy and modern with a flavor of classic hiphouse (throwing in the Soul II Soul sample is just a cherry on the top) However, I could do without the Kardinal Offishall rap as it detracts more than it adds -though in the current US market I guess that r&b songs require a rent-a-rapper for radio airplay.

WMC 2009 was all about David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, could WMC 2010 be about this event record? Dutch electro maven Mason is no stranger to hip hop collaborations - his underground sleeper track "Exceeder" became an international pop hit thanks to a "perfect" guest rap by Princess Superstar. With 80s superstar rapper DMC (from Run DMC) and 80s new-wave/retro flavored singer Sam Sparro, "Corrected" definitely sees Mason bringing in an 80s vibe to his modern sounding electro beats. Remixes by Riva Starr, Alex Gopher, Ralvero, J.Majick and Wickaman make this track one to watch for in Miami.

Little Boots' incredible debut album Hands is finally being released in the US this week and I realized that I have never written up "Remedy." The electro-pop dance song is subtle on first listen but when the lyrics are discerned, you can tell that she really uses electronic music as a release. The video is quite special and really animates the song, the kaleidoscope effect is especially meaningful. Club mixes by Kaskade, Avicii, Stonemasons, and Wideboys make the track work for any commercial dance floor. One question though, are the Stonemasons a collaboration of Stonebridge and Freemasons - or just some studio creation finding humor while trying to cash in on the names of others.

When Cascada released "Evacuate the Dancefloor," many people commented that it seemed to be inspired by Lady Gaga's "Just Dance." To say that "Pyromania" is inspired by Lady Gaga's "Pokerface" would be akin to saying that Shontelle's song "Licky" was inspired by the Princess Superstar song of the same name. This pop dance track is destined to be big regardless of the lack of originality because its catchy as heck and has great club remixes - Cahill, Wideboys, and Spencer & Hill. When I first heard it, I thought it was incredible as the fourth single from the album. Realizing that "Pyromania" is not on the Evacuate the Dancefloor album makes us wonder why the song is being released - maybe a deluxe edition coming? Another note to ponder, with the song titles "Evacuate the Dancefloor," "Fever," "Dangerous" and "Pyromania" - is Cascada trying to tell us something? Should... Song of the Day: Bodega Girls - "Prime Time Sexcrime" -
Fans of Sonny J and Junior Senior need to check out this 70s-funk flavored jam from Bodega Girls. Reminiscent of the recent Rui Da Silva track "Spinning," its quite a literal 70s song with slight modern flourishes throughout. With all the retro flavor, "Prime Time Sexcrime" is actually quite fresh. While the video is a fun mishmash of 70s clips and stock footage, the lyrics make it not safe for work (NSFW).
